Brian has practiced Criminal Law for more than 44 years. He graduated from McGill University Faculty of Law in 1975, and practiced Criminal Law in Montreal until 1982, when he re-established in Toronto. Brian is certified as a Specialist in Criminal Litigation by the Law Society of Ontario. He has been a sessional lecturer in Criminal Law at the McGill University Faculty of Law and Osgoode Hall Law School; has taught Trial Advocacy at the University of Toronto Law School, and has been an instructor at the Criminal Law Bar Admission Course for the Quebec Bar, as well as for the Criminal Procedure and Trial Practice portions of the Law Society of Ontario Bar Admission Course. In addition to being a founding member of the Toronto Criminal Law firm Heller, Rubel, he has served as a Director and Chair of the Ontario Bar Association, Criminal Justice Section. Brian has lectured extensively on numerous subjects including tax evasion, ethics, sentencing, solicitor-client privilege, international bribery, disclosure and accessing third party records.
